The Flu Bug

Being freshly Wiccan, I have been experimenting with various herbal remedies. I found a shoppe on Etsy which sells Cold/Flu/Headache Relief satchets. I must say, I absolutely love their inhalation pouches. Yesterday my sinuses were so plugged. I spent much of the night "sniffing" the pouch I had bought for my sister. The result was amazing!!
How do you spell relief?
I spell it MOONLIT HERBALS.

Check out their store here... and the inhalation sachet here.

Steeped Tea

I love tea. My grandfather always told me the way to ruin a good cup of tea was to add sugar. I've always drank my tea black. No sugar. I've been very picky about my teas also. There are very teas that I truly enjoy as nothing could beat a plain cup of tea. Today was the Holiday Home Tour in my tour. A lady from Steeped Tea had a booth set up in one of the house. I hesitantly taste-tested a cup of one of her specialty teas -- and I was blown away... I loved it! Crème Carmello - a type of Rooibos. I have never tried loose-leaf tea before, but now I think I will never look back! I promptly bought some tea and an infusor. If you enjoy tea, I stongly recommend that you give this company a try!

My Sacred Space

A wtich's alter is a personal, sacred space. It is a tool used to gather and focus magickal energies. It is a reflection of the witch herself (or himself) and is used to communicate with the Goddess.

Where ever the alter is placed, the area should be clean and clutter-free. I was disgusted this morning when I re-entered the bed room to find that my husband had emptied his workpants pockets on to my alter!! Pay stubs, post-its, screws and change strewn across my alter. If this had been the first time, I likely would have simply over-looked it... but it has been happening over and over, again and again. He seemingly disrespects my wishes when I ask him not to use my alter in such a way.

Where is your alter? Have you chosen an indoor one, and outdoor one - or perhaps both? I would love to hear about others' alters...

Magickal Herbs: Rosemary

Is there anything better than the fragrant aroma of an herb garden? I love my herb garden. However being in Canada, and having to experience harsh winters often for more than 6 months of the year, I only get to enjoy these captivating scents for a short time.

A few days before Samhain, I harvested my herb garden and prepared it for the impending winter. I was pleasantly surprized this morning when I went out to see that ALL of my herbs had regrown. My youngest witchlet & I have just finished re-harvesting all of the over growth. And boy - do we smell lovely! I adore the fragrance of rosemary in particular.

About: The name rosemary has nothing to do with the rose or the name Mary, but derives from the Latin name rosmarinus, which is from "dew" (ros) and "sea" (marinus), or "dew of the sea" — apparently because it is frequently found growing near the sea. It is associated with love and the Goddess Venus.

Use in the Craft: Rosemary is frequently used to attract love and is often made into sachets which can be placed under pillows (to induce dreams of future lovers) or under a doormat (to bring love to your door). This herb is also useful for protection against illness, evil spirits or negative energies.

Get Your Cleanin' Shoes On

Being at stay at home mom means that I spend a large amount of my day cleaning. Cleaning dishes, laundry, toys and more. Recently I have also started helping a friend clean his house. At his house it is customary to keep shoes on; although this is not the case at my home. Today as I cleaned through his house I was amazed at how much I had gotten accomplished in such a small amount of time.

The Domestic Witch brings up a very valid point with her post today... it's all about the shoes! So if you wanna get something done - don't wear those comfy clothes. Get up! Get dressed & put those shoes on! Don't forget to crank up the tunes because that always helps with the cleaning ;)

Oh and don't forget to check out Mrs. B's blog today for an awesome give-away!!

Merry Meet!!

Merry meet & welcome to my newest adventure!
I guess I'll start this blog off by telling you a little about myself.
Currently, I am an "almost" thrity-something stay at home mother of three. I have been silently wishing to be following Wicca religion for about 10 years, but had never made the actual desicion to become Wiccan and study the Craft whole heartedly. Why be silent? That is actually quite a complex question. 1) My mother threatened to disown me years ago if I decided to become Wiccan. 2) I live in a very, very small and close knit community. I am sure that my sister and I are the only Wiccans in the vicinity.

I have had little support in my path from those I have told - only 3 friends and my sister are behind me. Even my husband is not pleased or supportive. I've decided to come out of my broom closet online in hopes to find other in similar situations.

As a domestic witch, I hope to bring the Goddess and magic into my everyday routines, and teach my children that there is magic all around us as long as we are open to it. Domestic Witch has a great little addition to her sidebar about Domestic Witch Housekeeping too... it's worth a click!!
